Mud Shovel 6.5 Front Fender

First off, I would say that, when I opened the box for these (I got the front fork fender, the rear fender and this one), I took a few minutes to marvel at the engineering. I mean, there are engineers and there are engineers. Somebody loved designing these. Second, the snap-on/snap-off feature is incredible because it allows you to make very quick adjustments based on riding conditions that don’t require tools. In every way, I would say these are perfect except one: a friend took my bike for a spin and managed to dislodge the mud shovel fender without noticing. I will go out to find which mud puddle he lost it in today. Maybe it might be wise to make the snap feature just a little more beefy and resistant to getting knocked off? I can hardly say it’s something I don’t like, but just a nudge to the design department. Otherwise, awesome. The best I’ve ever bought.

It’s awesome, but is a little too wide and clips the cranks, or your feet hit it.

This review is premature as to using it but I wanted to share my experience so far. The setup and installation is very easy. It's also large enough and the angle can be adjusted to cover your fat tires. I really like the sturdiness of the bracket as well as the ease with which it can be moved to another bike. Customer service was excellent...a snap was off by about a quarter inch and I had a replacement delivered within 3 days....painless.

I love this fender. Pair it with the rear fender and you can keep the crud off of you. It’s so easy to put on and take off that I had no problems putting it on . Since it comes off easily when I load my bike on the rack I remove it until I reach my destination and then easily snap it back on. Love the splatter choice!

This is certainly an upgrade to its predecessor. I have the 5.05" tire up front on 100mm wheels and the coverage is plenty. Easily customizable to fit higher or lower on the downtube by cutting the plastic into the right fit; closer to the fork or around the under down tube water bottle bosses. Think of this as an enormous template to be scissored to perfection. The best feature is that the fender detaches easily from the bracket system, so the bracket can remain fixed and the large fender can be rolled up and stored in your frame bag until a muddy ride. But it's so light that, eh, just leave on. Well done PDW.
